Olympic Stadium Transformation

Balfour Beatty

Through previous employment with the Olympic Delivery Partner, members of our team worked closely with Sir Robert McAlpine throughout the design and construction of the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. Subsequently, Balfour Beatty asked KLH Sustainability to support them in tendering for the transformation works. Balfour Beatty successfully secured this challenging scope of works and we have supported the team in implementing the procedures necessary to deliver against the London Legacy Development Corporation sustainability requirements.

KLH currently provide a wide range of environment reporting services to the project team, including monitoring on-site construction practices for their environmental sensitivity, tracking the import and export of construction materials, and validation reporting for remediated soil protection. KLH are also liaising directly with BREEAM assessors to secure the ambitious target of BREEAM Excellent for the Olympic Stadium. Most recently, KLH played a key role in a successful Considerate Constructors Scheme assessment as part of the Senior Leadership Team. As a result of this success, Balfour Beatty will be including the Olympic Stadium Transformation project as a case study on their Best Practice Hub.
